The beautiful autumn is almost over and winter is coming.
Autumn is a beautiful time of year. And yes, it’s always sad that summer is over, but that doesn’t mean autumn isn’t worthy of the same affection. The leaves change from green to an incredible display of vibrant colors, just as your cheeks become a little chapped and flushed from the colder weather. Autumn is a time of preparation for rebirth. Bears fatten up for the long winter hibernation, squirrels store acorns and trees release their leaves to guard against drying out. The world of flora and fauna is preparing for the coming cold. When nature reawakens in spring, this long rest will have served them well. So snuggle up on the couch by the fire or just wrap a blanket around yourself with a hot cup of chocolate! Here are some winter words to help you celebrate this next season.
“Winter is the time for comfort, for good food and warmth, for the touch of a friendly hand and for a chat beside the fire: it is time for home.”
– Edith Sitwell
“I prefer winter and autumn, when you feel the bone structure of the landscape – the loneliness of it; the dead feeling of winter. There’s something waiting underneath that the whole story doesn’t show.”
– Andrew Wyeth
“The fire is winter fruit.”
– Arabisch gezegde
“No winter lasts forever; no spring skips a turn.”
– Hal Borland
“The colors of spring are flowers; the colors of winter are in our imagination.”
– Terri Guillemets
